From 1956 to the early 1970s, Cathay Organisation (under the logo of MP&GI : Motion Picture & General Investment Co Ltd, subsequently reorganised under Cathay) produced more than 200 Chinese films which won major awards in Asia and discovered many talents (actors and actresses, writers and directors, among others). Cathay with its pool of talented artists helped shape the Asian movie industry. Even today, many are still remembered for their contributions.

Over the last few years, Cathay managed to digitally restore most of the titles in its Classic Film Library. The films were visually corrected and the audio improved. Now, Cathay is proud to present 152 of its Chinese Classics, readily available in broadcast standard Betacam (PAL) format.
