During the Second World War, Tao Shucheng, director of an automobile repair plant and his staff are trapped behind enemy lines. In order to prevent the Japanese troops from using their gasoline, they hide it in a mountain cave. When the gasoline is eventually discovered, the Chinese decide to blow up the cave as they are unwilling to see it fall into enemy hands. The Japanese demand the voluntary surrender of the offenders or all will be executed. All the Chinese courageously step forward to take the blame.
