From 22 December, Cathay Cineplexes JB City Square is opening the doors to five new screens. This doubles the number of screens to 10 and seating capacity from 1,425 seats to 2,240 seats.
In addition to the five new halls, existing screens and facilities have been given a facelift. Cathay Cineplexes JB City Square boasts state-of-the-art digital sound facilities, ergonomically designed seats with a generous 1.08m between rows for comfortable legroom and the of “Couple Seats” with retractable armrests, has also been doubled.
The Cineplex is equipped with Digital Projection, which allows for the screening of movies released in digital format and is also electronically enabled, thus allowing alternative forms of entertainment such as ‘live’ EPL and World Cup matches to be screened.
Box office and concession counters are strategically located at levels 5 and 7 for the convenience of the moviegoers and the cineplex will also introduce automated booking facilities such as the Interactive Voice (IVR) booking by telephone and online internet booking to make it easier for the patrons to get their tickets.
Other facilities include an alfresco garden terrace where patrons can relax whilst waiting for the movie to start.
Complementing the new facilities are staff who are trained to provide a friendly yet superior quality service to further enhance the movie-going experience.
The official opening and re-launch party will feature the premiere screening of Cathay-Keris’ Fly Boys. When the Cineplex opens to the public from Friday 22 December, Cathay Cineplexes J B City Square will donate RM1 for each ticket purchased for Fly Boys to a worthy cause, the Pertubuhan Anak Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Johor.
Cathay Organisation Holdings Ltd Business Operations President Suhaimi Rafdi said: “We are excited and confident that these new halls will complement the increasing number of movie-goers in Johor Bahru. This renovation exercise has also allowed us to revitalise our existing facilities and enhance our services to provide an even more exciting entertainment experience.”
