More Than Just Popcorn
Movie lovers can now indulge in gourmet popcorn not normally available in cineplexes. Only sold at The Cathay on Handy Road, flavours offered are Sour Cream & Chives, Caramel, Cheese and Caramel with Almond.
With seasonings and ingredients specially imported from the USA, Cathay’s Gourmet Popcorn is accompanied by snazzy packaging and also offers a specially designed gift box. Packaged with a pair of movie tickets, it would make a unique gift.
Unlike the normal butterfly corn used for normal popcorn, Gourmet Popcorn is made of mushroom corn which is larger and rounder than the normal popcorn that you can buy over the counters and in supermarkets. The size and shape of the corn allows the flavours to coat the corn more evenly, which means it has greater intensity in terms of flavour and taste in comparison than usual popcorn.
The price for a small box of Gourmet Popcorn ranges between S$4.50 to $5.50, and the large is between S$10.00 to $11.00.
Gourmet Popcorn is located at #B1-16, The Cathay, 2 Handy Road.
Hotdog Heaven
Also located on B1 of The Cathay is the Hotdog Factory. The Hotdog Factory offers both take-away service and a seating area for dine-in customers where you can sit and enjoy the meal with friends. Alternatively, if you are watching a movie, you can place your order at the box office on level 5 and have your hotdog delivered right to your cinema seat.
Treat yourself to succulent 8 inch dogs, chicken or beef, with special toppings. For the fuss free, standard hotdogs (available in 6 inches or 8 inches) plain or with cheese or triple cheese are also available.
Otherwise, we’d recommend the Signature Hotdogs with toppings like Black Pepper, Beef Bolognaise, Shrimp Marinara, Pepperoni with Cheese, Chicken Rendang or Mushroom Swiss. All Signature Hotdogs are priced at S$5.20 each. Standard Hotdogs are priced between $5.00 to $5.20.
Also available on the menu are Cheesy Pasta, Rosemary Lamb, Beef Lasagne, Chicken Baked Rice and Chicken Pie. Sides include chunky or cheesy fries and nachos.
Complete the indulgence with a milkshake (chocolate, oreo, strawberry or vanilla) or if you prefer, an A&W rootbeer float to end your meal on nostalgic note.
