Cathay Cineleisure Orchard – venue for upcoming Singapore Idol’s auditions!

From 11 February 2006, Cathay Cineleisure Orchard will be the venue for auditions for the 2 nd season of Singapore Idol. Cathay Cineleisure Orchard is pleased to be collaborating with Media Corp on this much-anticipated event.

Renowned as the hangout for youths in the heart of the city, Cathay Cineleisure Orchard is c onstantly in touch with the trends among the youth and one of the preferred choices for youth-related programmes, events and activities.

Says Mr Suhaimi Rafdi, President of Business Operations, Cathay Organisation; “ By hosting the auditions for Singapore Idol, it will enhance our complete entertainment experience. Cathay Cineleisure Orchard has always been a favoured venue for youths, 14 to mid 20s of age, and we feel that the Singapore Idol auditions being held here appeals to this age group that we cater to. We believe in encouraging our youths to express their talents and this is evident in many of the activities which are held here. For example, we’ve featured local talents such as Lunarin, Unexpected, DJ Ko Flow in our year end countdown party, we’ve held the annual Singapore Street Festival, Hip Hop festival and many more.”

To further enhance the complete entertainment concept, Cathay recently opened Singapore’s largest e-gaming hub, E 2Max @ Cine-L9 in November 2005. The arena-style concept of E 2Max @ Cine-L9 houses more than 200 PCs and console stations including Xbox, as well as Internet surfing services.

And complementing the concept of Entertainment to the Maximum are Cathay Cineplexes’ three E- cinema halls , which will open on 19 January 2006. Electronically enabled, the E-cinemas will showcase alternative forms of entertainment such as ‘live’ sporting events like the World Cup, EPL and Champions League matches, ‘live’ award ceremonies like the Oscars and Golden Globes and even Singapore Idol. With the opening of these three E-Cinemas, Cathay Cineplex Orchard will have 12 screens with 2,135 seats – the largest number of screens under one roof in Singapore.
