Cathay Cineplexes will be reaching out to the heartlanders, with the launch of Cathay Cineplex AMK Hub and Cathay Cineplex Downtown East in 2007. With these expansion plans, the movie-going experience in town will be brought to the community.
Cathay Cineplex AMK Hub will open in June/July 2007, with 8 screens and 1,800 seats. Moviegoers will be treated to the latest offerings on the big screen and daily double midnight screenings will also be in the plans at the 46,000 sq-ft cineplex.
The entertainment atmosphere in the East will be further enhanced when the 25,000 sq-ft Cathay Cineplex Downtown East opens at E!Hub in December 2007, with 6 screens and 1,200 seats.
As part of the new initiatives which will be extended to the new cineplexes opening in 2007, Cathay Cineplexes has adopted the Pro-Family Business pledge. Cathay Cineplexes is the only cinema exhibitor in Singapore to have been awarded the Pro-Family Business Pledger by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports. Our programmes inline with this include the Mums & Tots Tuesdays at Cathay Cineplex Cineleisure Orchard, special pricing for senior citizens and Super Sunday deals at all our cineplexes.
Says Suhaimi Rafdi, President of Business Operations, Cathay Organisation Holdings Ltd, “Inline with our new developments and initiatives, we have lowered ticket prices since October 2006 to make movie-going more affordable. With the new cineplexes opening, accessibility and availability will also be made more convenient. We are indeed looking forward to bringing the Cathay cinematic experience to the heartlands.”
Cathay Cineplexes currently operates in three locations in Singapore with 27 screens and 5,299 seats. By December 2007, this will be increased to 41 screens and 8,300 seats.
