The 17th Cathay Super Classic starts tomorrow, 26 July 2005, at Cathay Bowl SAFRA Tampines from 9am. Over 100 bowlers from 15 countries will take to the lanes and battle for the top prize of S$25,000 and the Perfect Game Prize of S$100,000.
The total prize money of S$96,750 at stake (excluding the perfect game prize of S$100,000) is the highest in the history of the Cathay Super Classic. The top prize of S$25,000 is the highest in Singapore & possibly South East Asia.
41 Singapore bowlers are in the line-up, including top names such as Remy Ong, who was champion in 2002 and Lee Yu Wen who recently captured the 6th Qatar International Open Bowling Championship title and over the weekend, came in 2nd in the Men's Masters of the 7th Chinese Taipei International Open.
Also set to hit the lanes are Singaporeans Faizal Chew who captured the Youth Masters title of the recent 7th Chinese Taipei International Open and Jasmine Yeong Nathan who came in the second.
This star-studded international event will also see Andrew Frawley (Australia), Chester King (Philippines), Alex Liew (Malaysia), Jason Belmonte (Australia), Kirsten Penny (UK) and a host of Chinese Taipei top bowlers sizzle up the lanes.
26 to 28 July from 9am : Qualifying Rounds.
29 July from 1pm : Quarter-Finals (top 40 from qualifying rounds).
30 July from 12 noon : Semi-Finals (top 20 from quarter-finals) play for the Top 6 Shoot Out. The top two from the 6 will then play for the Championship in the Grand Finals.
