Turning into music rock stars at Cineleisure Orchard

The aspiration of becoming a rock star no longer seems like a dream too far away. Come June 2009, “closet music rockers” can safely unleash both their hidden talents and desires, and turn into smashing rock music players at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard.

Calling out to fans and keen players of the phenomenal video game that took the gaming world by storm, Cineleisure Orchard and E2Max, together with Maxsoft, are organizing the inaugural Guitar Hero Face Off. The competition will be held at Cineleisure’s Plug and Play Zone @ Level 1 (outside World of Sports), and is open to anyone and everyone keen to showcase their talents and skills or try their hand at the Guitar Hero World Tour game, even for those with absolutely no music or gaming background.

Members of the public can compete for the highest score during the qualifying rounds which will take place on June 5, 6, 12, and 13. The semi-final round will be held on June 19, and the final round on June 20. The top 3 players and bands at the finals will take away cash and attractive prizes worth up to $5,000.

During the event period, demo kioks will be setup for the public who have never played Guitar Hero before to try their hand at the game. Those keen on participating in the competition can also practise at E2Max (Cathay Cineleisure Orchard Level 9, or The Cathay Level 4) during the event period.

Suhaimi Rafdi, Chief Executive Officer of Cathay Organisation, says, “Being one of the newest and largest e-gaming haven in town, E2Max encourages a healthy cyber-lifestyle in a competitive e-gaming environment. We hope to see participation not only from gaming enthusiasts, but also from those who have not tried e-gaming before. The inaugural Guitar Hero Face Off will definitely open up the gaming world to many people in Singapore.”

Anyone who is interested to participate in the Guitar Hero Face Off can sign up at E2Max counters at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard or The Cathay. One-time registration fees are chargeable at $5 per player (solo guitarist) in the solo category, and $10 for 3 players (2 guitarists, 1 drummer) in the band category. Payment for the registration fees must be made at E2Max counters and participants can redeem an E2Max cash voucher ($5/$10) on the qualifying dates.
