Reel Entertainment LLC based in Dubai is a joint venture company established by Cathay Organisation Singapore and Emaar Malls Group Dubai late last year. The JV company will develop and manage cineplexes in the 150 malls that Emaar Malls Group plans to open across the Middle East, North Africa, the Indian Subcontinent and Indonesia.
Reel Entertainment LLC is pleased to announce that the new chain of cineplexes and megaplexes will be called, Reel Cinemas. The simplicity of the name symbolizes the magic of cinema and motion picture, and embodies the various emotions and senses which are enhanced and heightened in a movie-going experience.
Backed by Cathay Organisation, a company which has long been established in the business of film exhibition, Reel Cinemas’ mission is aimed at creating the ultimate movie experience and will strive to be the leading international multiplex operator offering the best cinematic experience with state-of-the-art technology, quality facilities and service with a difference.
The Dubai Mall
The Dubai Mall, the flagship project for Emaar Malls is a 12.1 million sq ft shopper’s paradise that will feature 1,200 specialty stores in distinct retail category precincts and will include extensive dining and entertainment facilities including 150 food and beverage outlets, a world-class aquarium and the world’s largest indoor Gold Souk. The Dubai Mall anchors the prestigious Downtown Burj Dubai development, also home to the world’s tallest tower, the Burj Dubai.
Reel Cinemas Dubai Mall
Poised to open in the last quarter of 2008 is Reel Entertainment’s flagship, the 22-screen megaplex, Reel Cinemas Dubai Mall. The megaplex will feature 22 screens with 3,000 seats, making this the largest in Dubai. It will include 17 commercial halls, an arthouse cinema hall named The Picturehouse and four premier class halls, which has been named the Platinum Movie Suites. The largest hall will seat 350 whilst the Platinum Movie Suites will seat between 30 to 34.
Occupying 110,000 sq ft, the deluxe megaplex will offer the best cinematic experience in an ambience of understated elegance. Interior designers Indez Design and RDC Architects from Singapore have developed a Hollywood Chic interior feel for the megaplex. Reel Cinemas Dubai Mall will be built at a cost of SIN$45 million.
Reel Cinemas Dubai Marina
Also opening in the last quarter of 2008 after Reel Cinemas Dubai Mall, is Reel Cinemas Dubai Marina which will feature 6 screens, all of which are premier class Platinum Movie Suites with each suite seating between 30 to 40 persons. This all-premier class concept would be the first in the UAE and will be built at a cost of SIN$15million. The Dubai Marina Mall is in the heart of Dubai’s master-planned waterfront community and will feature 160 stores and a 7-storey Gourmet Tower.
In the pipeline, after Reel Cinemas Dubai Mall and Dubai Marina, are two projects in the historically rich ancient city of Cairo, Egypt where Reel Cinemas will be located in two Emaar malls, the Cairo Gate and Uptown Mall. Following Cairo, Reel Cinemas is expected to open in another historic city, Damascus, Syria.
