FOURTH MEGA PAVILION CINEMAS OPENS IN MALAYSIA

Cathay Cineplexes Sdn Bhd’s fourth Mega Pavilion Cinemas in Malaysia was officially opened today by Datuk Iliyas Ibrahim, Mayor of Kota Kinabalu City at the new Cineplex’s premises in the capital city of Sabah.

Datuk Iliyas Ibrahim was joined by the senior management team from Cathay Organisation, Executive Director Ms Choo Meileen, Mr Sam Lo, President of Corporate Affairs and Mr Suhaimi Rafdi, President of Business Operations.

The curtains were raised at the new Mega Pavilion Cinemas to an audience of over 200 who had the privilege of watching the premiere of the much anticipated, Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.

Speaking at the red carpet and “kompang” occasion, Mr Suhaimi Rafdi said, “Movie-goers in Sabah can now look forward to a new movie-going experience and the concept of total cinema entertainment with the new Cineplex.” He added, “Our vision is to provide quality and wholesome family entertainment and we hope the opening of Mega Pavilion Cinemas, Kota Kinabalu will continue to reinforce that.”

Located along Jalan Abdul Rahman of Kota Kinabalu and occupying some 20,000 square feet, the new Cineplex has a total seating capacity of 620 seats, with the smallest hall offering 130 seats and the largest hall, 250 seats.

Cathay Cineplexes Sdn. Bhd. currently operates three Mega Pavilion Cinemas in Malaysia :-
Kompleks Bukit Jambul, Penang – 6 screens & 1,178 seats
Prangin Mall, Penang – 4 screens & 1,048 seats
City Square, Johor Bahru – 5 screens & 1,425 seats

Cathay Cineplexes Sdn Bhd is scheduled to open its flagship multiplex with 10-screen and 2,000 seats at Cineleisure Damansara in the capital city of Malaysia in the first quarter of 2006.

Cathay Cineplexes Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary of Cathay Organisation Holdings (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd which is a 100% subsidiary of Cathay Organisation Holdings Limited (Singapore).
