YASMIN AHMAD : A TRIBUTE
A showcase of The Storyteller’s film collection
25 September 2009 - The month of October pays tribute and homage to one of Asia’s most celebrated film directors – the beloved late Yasmin Ahmad (Please refer to Annex C for the information of Yasmin Ahmad) – for her many remarkable achievements and contributions to the movie and entertainment scene.
Jointly presented by Cathay Organisation, Lighthouse Pictures, Grand Brilliance, Primeworks Studios, MHz Films, and Nusanbakti Corporation Sdn Bhd, YASMIN AHMAD: A TRIBUTE is an exclusive showcase of Yasmin’s renowned films, as well as a special preview of her most recently produced movie Talentime, which is scheduled to be released later this year.
Affectionately known in the industry as “The Storyteller”, Yasmin Ahmad’s films and television commercials are well-known for their heart-warming themes of love and humour that transcend across cultural barriers. Her critically-acclaimed works have won countless awards in Malaysia as well as on the international platform. Yasmin had also recently won the Best Director Award in the 22nd Malaysian Film Festival for her latest film Talentime.
Yasmin’s films will be showcased exclusively at Cathay Cineplex Cineleisure Orchard, with the preview screening of Talentime on October 15 marking the official launch of the tribute initiative. Her five films – Sepet, Gubra, Muallaf, Rabun, and Muhksin, will be screened from October 16 to 18. (Please refer to Annex A for the movie schedule and Annex B for the film synopsis.)

Through this exclusive showcase of Yasmin’s films at Cineleisure Orchard, we want everyone – the movie industry, film lovers and film buffs, Yasmin’s fans and supporters – to come together and celebrate her many achievements and her devotion to life.”
All screenings from the Tribute are open to the public at a general price of $15 per ticket (and at a price of $12 per ticket for students), with proceeds collected from ticket sales to be donated to Pertapis Children’s Home, in dedication of Yasmin’s profound love and care for children in need around the world.
Advanced ticket booking for the Tribute films begin on 24 September, and tickets can be purchased online (http://tickets.cathay.com.sg) or from all Cathay Cineplex locations.
